Burnished American Silver Eagles were first issued in 2006 as part of the 20th anniversary celebration of the American Silver Eagle series. Since then, they have remained a steady favorite among collectors for their distinct appearance. These coins are struck using specially treated blanks that are handled individually during production. This process gives the coins a soft, matte-like finish that stands apart from standard bullion and proof versions. Right now, 2026-W 1 oz Burnished American Silver Eagle Coins are available from BullionMax.
Coin Highlights:
The 2026 release brings together several notable anniversaries. This year marks 40 years since the introduction of the American Eagle Series, along with 20 years since the debut of the burnished version of the Silver Eagle. In addition, the US Mint is recognizing the nation’s 250th anniversary with special design elements, including a dual-date obverse and the America 250 Liberty Bell emblem featured on major proof and collector coins.
Each 2026-W 1 oz Burnished American Silver Eagle Coin is packaged in a protective capsule and placed inside an official US Mint presentation box. The set also includes a themed outer shipper and a Certificate of Authenticity. These coins display an enhanced uncirculated finish, blending the smooth, matte look of burnished coins with subtle frosted details similar to proof coins, resulting in a balanced and refined appearance.
On the obverse of 2026-W Burnished American Silver Eagles is Adolph A. Weinman’s classic Walking Liberty design. First used on the half dollar in 1916, this image shows Liberty walking toward the horizon in left-profile relief. She is wrapped in the American flag, with her right arm extended and her left arm holding branches of oak and laurel.
The reverse of the 2026-W 1 oz Burnished Silver Eagle Coin features the modern bald eagle design created by Emily Damstra. Introduced in 2020, the design captures the eagle in flight as it descends with wings raised, carrying an oak branch as it prepares to land.
