In 2021, the United States Mint brought back two well-known silver dollar designs that continue to draw interest from collectors today. The modern Morgan Dollar and Peace Dollar programs add historical depth to the Mint’s current silver offerings, giving collectors and investors more variety in modern U.S. coinage. These releases highlight how classic designs still play a meaningful role in today’s minting efforts. Right now, Morgan Silver Dollar Coins are available from BullionMax.
Coin Highlights:
Each Morgan Silver Dollar Coin in this listing is housed in a presentation box and includes a Certificate of Authenticity from the United States Mint. These coins are offered with random years of issue from 2023 onward. The specific year you receive cannot be guaranteed, as all orders are fulfilled at random based on available inventory.
Original Morgan Silver Dollars were produced in large numbers during the late 1870s and throughout the 1880s. Production increased significantly after the passage of the Bland-Allison Act, which required the federal government to purchase large quantities of silver. Mints in Philadelphia, San Francisco, Carson City, and New Orleans struck millions of these coins, often producing more than what was needed for circulation. As a result, many Morgan Dollars were stored in Treasury vaults for years, preserving their condition and later making them popular among collectors.
The obverse of the Morgan Dollar features a left-facing portrait of Lady Liberty designed by George T. Morgan. Liberty wears a Phrygian cap adorned with cotton blossoms and wheat stalks, symbolizing America’s agricultural roots. The design reflects classical artistic styles inspired by ancient Greek and Roman imagery while still presenting a distinctly American appearance.
On the reverse of Morgan Silver Dollar Coins, a heraldic eagle is shown with its wings spread wide. The eagle grasps arrows and an olive branch, representing strength and peace. Surrounding the eagle is a partial wreath made of cotton and wheat, echoing the agricultural elements seen on the obverse. Together, the designs create a balanced and historically meaningful silver dollar.
