Britannia has long been a symbol of the United Kingdom’s strength and maritime tradition. She is often shown with a trident for naval power, a shield for defense, a helmet for readiness, and positioned by the sea to highlight Britain’s connection to the ocean.

The obverse of the 2026 British Silver Britannia features King Charles III. Shown in left-profile, the portrait depicts the King without a crown. This design, introduced in late 2022, is the first official coin portrait of His Majesty and was created by sculptor Martin Jennings.

On the reverse, the 2026 1/10 oz Silver Britannia displays Philip Nathan’s classic 1987 artwork. Britannia appears wearing a flowing robe and Corinthian-style helmet, holding a trident in her right hand. In her left, she carries an olive branch atop a shield with the Union Jack design.
