The American Gold Eagle Series is approaching a major milestone with its 40th anniversary in 2026. This long-running series includes four weights, with the 1/2 oz Gold Eagle serving as the largest of the fractional sizes. First introduced in 1986, the 1/2 oz coin has remained a steady part of the series lineup ever since. Now, BullionMax offers 2026 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle Tubes to customers.
Coin Tube Highlights:
Although the 1/2 oz Gold Eagle has never exceeded the mintage numbers of its first release, it has seen spikes in popularity over the years. One notable example occurred in 1999 when concerns about Y2K drove a surge in demand for gold coins as a safe investment, giving the 1/2 oz coin its second-highest mintage to date.
Each 2026 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle Tube includes 40 individual coins, all in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. These coins are packaged inside a clear acrylic tube and offer a combined total of 20 Troy ounces of 22-karat gold.
The obverse side of the 2026 American Gold Eagle features the classic image of Lady Liberty designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. Liberty is shown walking forward with confidence, carrying a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other. The U.S. Capitol Building, rays of sunlight, and a ring of stars are displayed in the background.
On the reverse side of the 2026 1/2 oz Gold Eagle Coin is a close-up portrait of a bald eagle. This design by Jennie Norris was introduced in 2021 to mark the 35th anniversary of the series and shows the eagle in left-profile with sharp detailing in the feathers and beak.
