The American Silver Eagle is one of the most collected silver coins in the world, with more than 47 million coins sold in 2015 alone. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the series in 2011, the United States Mint released a special five-coin set. This collection brought together different versions of the Silver Eagle, including bullion, proof, and burnished editions, along with two special anniversary strikes: a reverse proof and a second uncirculated coin. Certified 2011 American Silver Eagle 25th Anniversary 5-Coin Sets are now available from BullionMax.
Coin Set Highlights:
Each 2011 American Silver Eagle 25th Anniversary 5-Coin Set is housed in protective slabs, with each coin graded as either Proof 69 or Mint State 69. Coins in these conditions are considered near-perfect, showing full mint luster with only two or fewer small imperfections, such as tiny contact marks or faint hairlines, located away from key design areas.
This anniversary set includes a mix of well-known Silver Eagle issues. Among them are the Proof Silver Eagle with the “W” mint mark, the bullion version struck at West Point without a mint mark, and the burnished uncirculated coin carrying the “W” mark.
Two anniversary exclusives round out the set. One is an uncirculated Silver Eagle from the San Francisco Mint with the “S” mint mark. The other is a reverse proof Silver Eagle from the Philadelphia Mint with the “P” mark, offering a distinctive finish for the anniversary release.
The reverse proof format provides a striking look, with polished design elements set against frosted backgrounds. This treatment creates a clear contrast that makes the artwork stand out.
On the obverse of every 2011 Silver Eagle is Adolph A. Weinman’s classic Walking Liberty. Originally created for the Walking Liberty Half Dollar in 1916, the design remained in use until 1947 and continues to be admired for its graceful imagery.
The reverse of each coin shows John Mercanti’s modern take on the heraldic eagle, a design that draws from the nation’s history of eagle motifs on American coinage dating back to the 19th century.
