The obverse of the 2025 1 oz Proof Silver Libertad features the modern version of Mexico’s national coat of arms. A golden eagle is shown clutching a snake in its beak and talon while perched on a cactus. Surrounding the main image are 10 smaller emblems showing earlier versions of the coat of arms. This ring of emblems is included only on the 1 oz, 2 oz, and 5 oz coins.

On the reverse side of the 2025 Proof Silver Libertad, you’ll find Winged Victory. This figure is based on the statue that stands at the top of Mexico City’s Independence Victory Column. In the distance, you can see the volcanoes Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl, which are part of Mexico’s cultural and natural heritage.

During the colonial era, the original eagle and serpent design underwent changes as the Spanish adapted indigenous symbols to fit European and Christian themes. This included adding features such as crowns and shields, which reflected the political and religious structure of the Spanish Empire in the Americas.

Each 2025 1 oz Proof Mexican Silver Libertad is packaged in a capsule and comes with classic proof visuals, like frosted images and mirrored fields. The 1 oz proof coin has a special place in the Libertad series, having first appeared in 1983 and been issued yearly since 1986.
