The Cayman Islands Sea Life Series from Scottsdale Mint showcases some of the most iconic marine creatures found in the Caribbean. This beautiful series began in 2018 and includes designs featuring animals like the Marlin, Loggerhead Turtle, and now the Stingray. These coins highlight the role each species plays in the underwater ecosystem of the region. Right now, you can get the 2025 1 oz Cayman Islands Gold Sea Life Stingray Coin at BullionMax.
Coin Highlights:
Each 2025 1 oz Cayman Islands Gold Sea Life Stingray Coin ships to you in an acrylic capsule. This coin contains 1 Troy oz of .9999 fine gold and has a proof-like appearance, which means you’ll notice lightly frosted designs set against mirror-like fields. The total mintage is limited to just 1,000 coins.
The Southern Stingray is one of the most common species in the Caribbean. Its body is diamond-shaped and can span up to five feet wide. The top side of the stingray is usually brown or olive-gray with a soft, smooth texture, while the underside is pale white or cream-colored.
On the obverse of the 2025 Cayman Islands Gold Sea Life Stingray Coin, you’ll see the national coat of arms of the Cayman Islands. The central shield features three stars representing the three islands in the territory—Grand Cayman, Little Cayman, and Cayman Brac. Flowing lines symbolize the nearby sea, and a turtle above the shield honors the territory’s original name, Las Tortugas, a name early explorers gave it due to the abundance of sea turtles.
The reverse shows a stingray swimming peacefully near the ocean floor. Stingrays are gentle creatures that spend most of their time hidden in the sand. Their skeletons are made of cartilage rather than bone, and their flat bodies and long tails help them thrive on the seafloor. While some tails have venomous barbs, stingrays are not aggressive and typically avoid contact with humans.
