The obverse of this 2025 gold coin features Samoa’s national coat of arms. This design includes a central shield with a palm tree and ocean waves, along with the Southern Cross constellation below. A Christian cross is placed above the shield, while a ribbon beneath it reads “FA’AVAE I LE ATUA SAMOA,” meaning “God is the Foundation of Samoa.”

On the reverse side, you’ll see a golden eagle mid-flight. These birds are skilled hunters, capable of flying high and diving at speeds over 150 miles per hour. Their primary prey includes small animals like rabbits and marmots, though they’ve also been known to hunt birds and feed on carrion when necessary.

Golden eagles have excellent vision—about eight times better than human eyesight—enabling them to spot prey from more than two miles away. Their broad wings and powerful muscles let them ride warm air currents, often gliding for long periods with little effort.
