Product Details

In 2006, the United States Mint marked a major milestone: the 20th anniversary of the American Eagle series. First released in 1986, the American Silver Eagle and American Gold Eagle became the nation’s official bullion programs. To honor two decades of these well-known issues, the Mint created a special anniversary release of Silver Eagles. Right now, certified 2006-W Proof American Silver Eagle 20th Anniversary 3-Coin Sets are available from BullionMax.

Coin Highlights:

  • Arrives with individual protective slabs!
  • Marks the 20th anniversary of the American Silver Eagle Series!
  • Limited number of certified sets!
  • Each coin contains 1 troy oz of .999 pure silver (3 troy oz total).
  • Bears individual face values of $1 (USD) backed by the federal government.
  • Issued individual grades of MS or PF69 by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation.
  • The obverse of each coin features the historic Walking Liberty design.
  • On the reverse of each coin is the Heraldic Eagle of the United States.
  • “W” mint mark from the West Point Mint on the proof and burnished coins.
  • “P” mint mark from the Philadelphia Mint on the reverse proof coin.
  • Slabs may display varying label colors or designs.

Each coin in these certified 2006-W Proof American Silver Eagle 20th Anniversary 3-Coin Sets comes sealed in a protective slab and graded Mint State or Proof 69 by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). Coins at this level show full original mint luster with only tiny flaws. Any marks are limited to faint contact lines or hairlines that do not appear in the main design areas.

The 2006-W Proof American Silver Eagle 3-Coin Set was produced to celebrate 20 years of the series and includes three distinct versions. One is the traditional Proof Silver Eagle, struck at the West Point Mint with a “W” mint mark. Another is the one-time Reverse Proof Silver Eagle, made at the Philadelphia Mint with a “P” mint mark. This special strike flips the usual proof look, using frosted fields and mirrored design elements for strong contrast. The set is completed by the Burnished American Silver Eagle, introduced in 2006, featuring a smooth, satin-like finish created through careful preparation and handling.

The obverse of each 2006 American Silver Eagle presents Adolph A. Weinman’s Walking Liberty. First seen on the half dollar in 1916, this classic image is one of the most familiar designs in U.S. coinage and remained on the half dollar through 1947.

On the reverse of 2006 1 oz Silver Eagle Coins, John Mercanti’s Heraldic Eagle carries on a long tradition in American coin art. Inspired by motifs dating to 1794, Mercanti’s design served as the series’ reverse through 2021.
