The American Palladium Eagle is the newest addition to the American Eagle family of coins. First released in 2017, this series stands apart for its focus on palladium and its limited release schedule. Each year, the Palladium Eagle is typically offered in only one version, with BU, proof, and reverse proof formats rotating on a three-year cycle. Today, BullionMax has the 2025-W 1 oz Reverse Proof American Palladium Eagle Coin available.
Coin Highlights:
Each 2025-W 1 oz Reverse Proof American Palladium Eagle is sealed in a protective capsule and presented inside a blue US Mint box. The box includes a Palladium Eagle-themed outer shipper and comes with an official Certificate of Authenticity. This reverse-proof version features frosted backgrounds with polished design elements, giving the coin a unique contrast.
The Palladium Eagle program has included BU, proof, and reverse proof releases at different times. BU coins were struck in 2017, 2020, 2021, and 2023. Proof issues came in 2018, 2021, and 2024. The reverse proof format was introduced in 2019 and 2022, making this 2025 release the third in that style. The only overlap year was 2021, when both BU and proof editions were produced.
The obverse of the 2025-W Reverse Proof Palladium Eagle shows Adolph A. Weinman’s Winged Liberty design. Introduced in 1916, it depicts Liberty in profile wearing a winged cap, a symbol of freedom of thought. The design is often mistaken for Mercury, which is why the coin is sometimes called the Mercury Dime. Weinman’s artwork remains one of the most admired in US coinage.
On the reverse of the 2025-W 1 oz Reverse Proof American Palladium Eagle is an eagle created by Weinman in 1907 for the American Institute of Architects Gold Medal. This design shows a bald eagle in left-profile relief, wings raised as it pulls a laurel branch from a rock.
