This edition of the NATB Series focuses on Pontiac, a well-known Odawa leader. The Odawa people, who speak an Algonquian language, have lived in the Great Lakes area for generations. With lands spanning parts of modern Michigan, Ontario, Ohio, and Wisconsin, the Odawa were active in trading and diplomacy, often playing a central role in regional trade networks and alliances.

On the obverse of the 2025 Colorized NATB Wisconsin Coin, Pontiac is shown with a raised war hatchet. He was born around 1720 and became known for his leadership and resistance efforts. Pontiac worked to protect Native lands and rights as European settlers expanded into Indigenous territories.

The reverse of the 2025 Proof Wisconsin coin features the series’ bald eagle design. A prominent eagle head sits in the center of an eight-pointed star. Between each point of the star are arrowhead designs, creating a striking and culturally rich border around the central image.
