The Flowing Hair Dollar debuted in October 1794, designed by Robert Scot, the first Chief Engraver of the United States Mint. This silver dollar was the first in the Liberty series and was only produced in 1794 and 1795 before being replaced by the Draped Bust Dollar. Historical records indicate just over 1,700 Flowing Hair Dollars were struck in 1794 and around 160,000 in 1795. Today, fewer than 150 of the 1794 coins are believed to exist, making this design a true treasure of early American coinage.
