The reverse includes a small laser-engraved maple leaf privy, while the obverse background displays fine radial lines surrounding the Queen’s portrait.

The sugar maple leaf is a familiar natural symbol across North America, particularly recognized in Canada where it appears on the national flag. Known for its broad, five-lobed shape, the sugar maple leaf usually measures 3 to 6 inches wide and changes dramatically with the seasons.

The obverse of the 2017 Canadian Silver Twin Maples Coin presents a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Shown in right-profile relief, this depiction was created by Canadian artist Susanna Blunt in 2003.
