The American Silver Eagle is one of the most recognized modern silver coins from the United States Mint. First released in 1986, this series includes both Brilliant Uncirculated and Proof versions. Since then, these coins have been a popular choice for collectors and investors alike, with the Proof version available every year except 2009. All American Silver Eagles feature the same obverse design, originally seen on the 1916 Walking Liberty Half Dollar. Today, BullionMax offers 2013-W 1 oz Proof American Silver Eagle Coins in certified condition.
Coin Highlights:
The obverse design features Adolph A. Weinman’s Walking Liberty. Used originally on the half-dollar coin from 1916 to 1947, this artwork was inspired by classical depictions of liberty in motion. Weinman was influenced by the French “Sower” design by Oscar Roty and crafted Liberty striding confidently with an outstretched arm and the American flag draped around her shoulders. This image reflects the strength and hope of a nation moving forward.
Each 2013-W 1 oz Proof American Silver Eagle available here is certified PR69. This near-perfect grade means the coins show their original mint luster with only a couple of small imperfections, such as faint contact marks or hairlines away from key focal points. The DCAM label, or deep-cameo, points to the strong contrast between the frosted designs and mirror-like background fields.
On the obverse side of the 2013-W Proof Silver Eagle is the Walking Liberty design. It remains one of the most beloved coin images in American history, admired for its symbolism and striking beauty. Liberty strides toward the sunrise, embodying freedom and progress.
The reverse features the classic heraldic eagle, a design introduced by John Mercanti in 1986. The bald eagle appears with wings spread and a shield at its chest. It clutches arrows in one talon, a symbol of strength, and an olive branch in the other, representing peace. Above, 13 stars are arranged in a triangular pattern for the original colonies.
