In 1898, the Morgan Dollar was produced at multiple U.S. Mint facilities, including Philadelphia, New Orleans, and San Francisco. The Philadelphia Mint led the production with 5.884 million coins, followed by 4.44 million from New Orleans and 4.102 million from San Francisco.

The obverse of the 1898 Morgan Dollar features the image of Lady Liberty, designed by George T. Morgan in 1878. Liberty is shown in left-profile relief, wearing a Phrygian cap, a laurel wreath, and a coronet crown.

On the reverse, the 1898 Morgan Silver Dollar displays the heraldic eagle, also created by Morgan. The eagle is depicted in front-facing relief, holding an olive branch and arrows, symbolizing peace and readiness for war.
