Product Details

Established in 1870, the Carson City Mint played a key role in handling the large amounts of silver and gold discovered in Nevada’s Comstock Lode. This helped avoid the expensive and risky process of shipping precious metals to other mint facilities. Morgan Dollars with the Carson City “CC” mintmark were made from 1878 to 1885 and again from 1889 to 1893. These coins are widely appreciated by collectors for their history and connection to the local silver boom. You can now find certified 1884-CC Morgan Silver Dollar Coins at BullionMax.

The Carson City Mint was placed near key mining areas and operated at various times based on political decisions, funding, and metal prices. It officially closed in 1893 after producing millions of coins, including Morgan Silver Dollars and other pieces marked with the “CC” mintmark.

Each 1884-CC Morgan Silver Dollar Coin offered here has been graded MS62. This grade means the coin has some noticeable marks and hairlines, and the mint luster is slightly impaired but still visible. A few larger contact marks may also be present.

The obverse of the 1884-CC Morgan Dollar features Lady Liberty in left-profile relief. This design by George T. Morgan shows her with loose curls, a Phrygian cap, and a coronet crown with a laurel wreath. Thirteen stars run along the bottom edge of the field, symbolizing the original colonies.

The reverse shows a bald eagle with its wings stretched out wide. Also created by Morgan, this design includes the eagle holding arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other, representing the balance between strength and peace.
