Product Details

First released in 1982, the Chinese Gold Panda series is known around the world for its detailed designs and annual updates. Each year, the reverse side of the coin features a new image of China’s beloved Giant Panda, giving collectors and investors something different to enjoy with every release. Right now, BullionMax offers the 1994 1/2 oz Chinese Gold Panda Coin with the Small Date engraving.

Coin Highlights:

  • Coin arrives inside a sealed plastic pouch!
  • 13th release in the Gold Panda Series!
  • Limited mintage of just 16,788 coins!
  • Features the Small Date engraving style!
  • Contains 1/2 Troy oz of .999 pure gold.
  • Face value of 50 Yuan backed by China.
  • Obverse features the Temple of Heaven’s Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests.
  • Reverse shows a panda peacefully eating among bamboo.

The obverse of the 1994 1/2 oz Gold Panda Coin highlights a famous landmark from Beijing — the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests at the Temple of Heaven. This iconic building is shown from the front with fine architectural details. Around the image are Chinese characters and the year of issue. This design has appeared on the obverse of all Gold Pandas since the series began.

On the reverse side of the 1994 Gold Panda, you’ll see a panda sitting among bamboo, enjoying a meal. This design offers a quieter moment compared to earlier action-filled scenes, emphasizing the panda’s relaxed nature and close connection to its forest environment.

In the wild, pandas need to move through bamboo forests regularly to find the freshest shoots and leaves. Their diet is very specific, and different parts of the plant offer different nutrients. Pandas tend to favor new growth, especially during certain times of the year.

Each 1994 1/2 oz Chinese Gold Panda Coin is packaged in a sealed plastic pouch. This version features the Small Date style, meaning the numbers in the date are shorter and more compact compared to the Large Date version, where the digits appear more stretched.

If you have any questions about adding this 1/2 ounce gold coin to your collection, the BullionMax customer service team is here to help at 800-729-3202. You can also reach us through web chat or email.
